As part of our senior Capstone, my colleagues and I were divided into groups to display and celebrate our work.
We wanted to make the gallery its own cohesive space, but we were challenged with the task of organizing our work to match this idea. My group had many different genres of work, but each member had a larger singular project. We decided to create a “town” of artwork, where each artist had their own “store” in the town. The store would showcase the main project, in my case, it was Paddle Pit, as well as a few other supplementary pieces. Based off our own experience and the reaction to the public that attended the show, we believe we successfully achieved segmented but cohesive areas.
I really enjoyed displaying my work in this way. I was allowed artistic freedom to mix in my rustic vibe into my space and make it more unique to the Paddle Pit brand. I think the kayak prototype was a huge success and I think it helps polish the entire display! I think it’s an interactive and fun space because visitors were encouraged to look and touch my work.
I’m very grateful for the whole experience and I look forward to participating in events like this in the future!
